Creating Tessellations Assignment
Visit the National Library of Virtual Manipulatives
Look for the Geometry Section and find the Tessellations program.
You will be creating 4 different Tessellations for use in next day’s class
For each tessellation
- Try to tile the plane
- Try to minimize your work by creating a “tile” that can be repeated (copy/paste)
- Print out and write your name on each Tessellation
- Note: Printing can be a pain. It is best to try and do a Print Preview to make sure that your tessellation will print. Some people have found it is best to right click on the page beside the tessellation and print from there.
Next Class
You will choose one tessellation to represent each of the following:
- A repeated pattern of reflected shapes
- An axis of symmetry
- A repeated patter of rotated shapes
- A point of rotational symmetry
- A repeated tile that is translated to tile the plane
